Reassignments
The President (or their designee) may temporarily assign an employee to a position in a higher classification or may temporarily reclassify an employee for the performance of duties in a higher classification. The President (or their designee) may temporarily elevate an employee’s skill level through a temporary in-class progression for the performance of duties at a higher skill level in the same or a different position. An employee shall be provided with written notice of such a temporary assignment of duties of another classification or temporary in class progression at least seven (7) days prior to the effective date.
Only an Appropriate Administrator may request a temporary or permanent reassignment.
Temporary Reassignment
To request a temporary reassignment submit the following to onboarding@smcun.com:
- Signed employee profile
- Position description
- Effective date/end date
- Work schedule
- Salary requested for temporary reassignment
Permanent Reassignment
Employees may be permanently reassigned to another position in the same classification and skill level as the employee’s existing classification and skill level. An employee shall be provided written notice of permanent reassignment to another position prior to the effective date of such a reassignment.
To request a permanent reassignment, submit the Request to Process Classification and/or Compensation Transactions form along with:
- Signed employee profile
- Position description
- Effective date
- Work schedule
